String Swing
Where others simply meet the weight thresholds, we’ve engineered our displays to exceed them.

String Swing delivers quality without compromise. Made with heavy duty steel, sturdy aluminum, and solid hardwood, our displays are designed to support your heavy instruments for a lifetime. And unlike the "other guys," our products are built stronger than they need to be - because your instruments deserve nothing less. Our mounts hold up to real-world stress, for reliable storage you won’t find anywhere else.

Not only will our products carry heavy loads – they’ll do it in the safest way possible. The deep cradle "keeper" yoke in each of our mounts guides your instrument into proper placement every time, ensuring that your instrument won’t slip or be knocked out of place. This signature design delivers unmatched security and peace of mind that other displays simply can’t match.

100% USA Made
Our products are completely sourced, produced, and manufactured in the USA.
Pass
Your instrument weighs 10 lbs. We’ve built our displays to handle over 100.
Foreign Knock-Offs
The quality of instrument displays just aren’t what they used to be.

Many display companies have outsourced their raw materials and manufacturing overseas to save money. But cutting corners comes with its own price tag for you, the customer. It means inferior resources, a lack of quality control, and you ending up with a hanger that doesn’t quite meet the mark. Made to hold the weight of the instrument and nothing more, these mounts are prone to damage and sooner or later need replacing.

Your valuable instruments deserve a hanger you can rely on. Something that goes above and beyond to meet – or exceed – your high standards. A mount that offers security, and protects even the most delicate finishes from damage. Unfortunately, very few displays today reach the level of dependability, safety and quality that musicians expect.

Unknown Sourcing
Foreign outsourcing leaves you guessing about material quality and production standards.
Fail
Built just "good enough," it fails under prolonged stress.

About Us
The Idea that Changed Instrument Storage
Paul Thieman was a Wisconsin dairy farmer facing hard times. Struggling to support his family, he joined a band to earn extra income. As his passion for music grew, he envisioned a guitar hanger that would keep his six-string ready to play when inspiration struck, without having to pull it from a case. Unable to find one, he built himself. Using spare parts from his farm shop, Paul designed the hanger with a pivoting cradle that could accommodate all guitars, even those with asymmetrical headstocks. That simple hook became the first in-home guitar hanger.

It didn’t take long for people to take notice, and Paul realized his creation’s potential. In 1987, he founded String Swing and, with the help of his family and a machinist friend, began manufacturing parts and assembling hangers in his home. Musicians raved about the hanger’s secure deep cradle design, and as the business outgrew his basement, Paul sold his farm and moved to Ontario, Wisconsin to build a machine shop and pursue his new dream.

Today, String Swing builds the strongest, safest, and most accessible instrument displays on the market – trusted to hold over 10 million guitars worldwide. Our catalog has expanded to instruments of all kinds, from strings to woodwinds and percussion. Still proudly family-owned and American-made in our Midwest facility, we continue to refine our designs, provide excellent customer service, and uphold the highest standards of quality. From our humble beginnings to today, our goal remains the same: to build convenient, dependable, and beautifully crafted instrument displays that encourage musicians to pursue their passion.

Have another question? Our support team is here for you to help you in any way we can.
Do I need a code to receive my free rack?

Nope! As long as you make your purchase through this landing page, your 3 or 5-Guitar Rack will be automatically added to your cart.

Where are your products made?

Our products are American made from start to finish, right here in the great state of Wisconsin!

What is your lifetime warranty?

Your display unit is warranted against defects in workmanship and materials for a lifetime, provided the following:

  • The unit is purchased from an authorized dealer or directly from the manufacturer.
  • The unit is used for what its name implies it should be used for.
  • The unit has not been altered in any way, or damaged through user error or mishandling.
  • The unit is properly installed as stated in the provided installation instructions (the warranty is provided only to the original purchaser).
How much does shipping cost?

We offer free shipping on orders over $50. If the order total is less than $50, regular shipping charges apply.

Free shipping applies to retail sales only, and does not include distributor or dealer sales. All online orders are shipped via USPS Mail or UPS Ground service, unless otherwise specified.

Can I hang an instrument with an asymmetrical headstock in a String Swing hanger?

Absolutely! Our guitar holders are designed with a pivoting feature that adjusts to headstocks of all shapes, ensuring that your instrument hangs completely vertically. We recommend turning the yoke all the way into the fixture and backing it out half a turn, so it can freely pivot to accommodate your instrument’s headstock style.

Are your products safe for guitars with a nitrocellulose lacquer finish?

Our composite material will not eat into the nitro of your guitar like most foams and rubbers do. Fender, Gibson, and Martin all use our products in their showrooms and at trade shows on both their standard and high-nitro finished guitars. However, there are some things that are out of our control that prevent us from putting an unconditional guarantee that no marking will ever occur.

  • If an issue does arise with the finish, there is no definitive way for us to tell if the marks were caused by our products, or if they were from a previously used product by another manufacturer.
  • Nitro finish remains partially a liquid for its lifetime. Any significant pressure on the finish for extended periods of time can result in pressure marks that look almost like a smear. This is worsened if the guitar was not given proper cure time when the finish was applied.
  • If you have used guitar polish, make sure that you wipe it off before using our products. There is conflicting information on the internet as to whether polish is ever necessary. In addition, do not use any chemical cleaners on our padding material. Water is fine if needed.
  • Storing your guitar in direct sunlight can cause big issues, regardless of what material is being used in resting the guitar.

Our products are still made with the safest material on the market for nitro finished guitars, and thousands of people trust their guitars to our hangers every day. If you have a nitro white Gibson or Epiphone, we recommend using one of our white yokes for these extremely color sensitive finishes. If you decide to choose our products to display your guitars, we suggest checking your guitars frequently for peace of mind and reassurance of their safety.

If you have more questions, give us a call at 1-888-455-6628 and ask for Travis. He’ll gladly discuss any nitrocellulose-related questions in further depth.
